This book is one of the academic outputs of the Corporate Strategy course offered in the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year. The course was designed to take students beyond a conceptual understanding of corporate strategy by providing opportunities to apply strategic management frameworks to real companies. Through this process, students were expected not only to understand strategic analysis tools, but also to use them to examine organizational conditions, interpret competitive environments, evaluate strategic positions, and formulate relevant strategic alternatives.
The course adopted a comparative case-based approach. Each student group analyzed one focal company alongside two comparator companies. The analysis began with a comparison of corporate strategies, visions, and missions and proceeded to the evaluation of internal and external conditions, competitive positioning, strategy formulation, strategic choice, and implementation. The analytical process incorporated several complementary tools, including the Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) Matrix, External Factor Evaluation (EFE) Matrix, Porter’s Five Forces, Competitive Profile Matrix (CPM), SWOT analysis, SPACE Matrix, Internal–External (IE) Matrix, Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM), and perceptual mapping. Rather than treating these tools as isolated exercises, students were encouraged to connect the results of one stage of analysis with subsequent strategic decisions.
The six chapters in this book represent the contributions developed through this learning process. Within Dairy Products, Cisarua Mountain Dairy Tbk (CMRY) is analyzed alongside Ultra Jaya Milk Industry & Trading Comp Tbk (ULTJ) and Mulia Boga Raya Tbk (KEJU), while Campina Ice Cream Industry Tbk (CAMP) is examined in comparison with Platinum Wahab Nusantara Tbk (TGUK) and Diamond Food Indonesia Tbk (DMND).
Within Food Retail & Distributors, Segar Kumala Indonesia Tbk (BUAH) is compared with Wicaksana Overseas International Tbk (WICO) and Kurniamitra Duta Sentosa Tbk (KMDS), while Prima Cakrawala Abadi Tbk (PCAR) is analyzed alongside Bersama Mencapai Puncak Tbk (BAIK) and Cipta Selera Murni Tbk (CSMI). Finally, within Restaurants, Fast Food Indonesia Tbk (FAST) is examined in comparison with MAP Boga Adiperkasa Tbk (MAPB) and Champ Resto Indonesia Tbk (ENAK), while Sarimelati Kencana Tbk (PZZA) is compared with Pioneerindo Gourmet International Tbk (PTSP) and Sari Kreasi Boga Tbk (RAFI).
